The Ferrari 360 was the first aluminium space-frame Ferrari designed to be lighter (28%) and stiffer (40%) than its predecessors, which started production in 1999. The 360 was designed by Pininfarina, and utilised a mid-engined 3.6 litre V8 delivering 395 horsepower. The lighter frame enabled a 0.2 second reduction in 0-100 acceleration. The 360 featured a number of innovations at the time, like a flat plane crankshaft, keyless entry, titanium connecting rods, and revised gearbox software.
The 360 is the model that replaced the Ferrari F355 and the successor featured a new Pininfarina body that showed a departure from the previous design of the 1990s Ferrari. The Modena came out as a coupe version with a brand-new engine that pushed its performance up to 395 horse power, but the greatest innovation was the use of aluminium structures that made it a lot more lightweight. The sleek new build gave it an innovative new aerodynamic behaviour that helped it reach 295 km/h. It is naturally aspirated, 6-speed gearbox as standard.
