Este modelo se situaba entre el superdeportivo 275 GTB berlinetta, con el que compartía chasis, y el más tranquilo 330 2+2 coupé, del que heredaba su motor V12 de 4 litros. Presentado en el Salón del Automóvil de Ginebra de 1966, fue un éxito inmediato. Pininfarina realizó una carrocería muy elegante, que recordaba en la parte delantera al 500 Superfast y en la trasera al 275 GTS. El 330 GTC se mantuvo en producción hasta finales de 1968 y se fabricaron cerca de 600 unidades.
Following the unveiling of the Ferrari 330 GTC Coupé at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, later in the year came the Ferrari 330 GTS spider version, shown at the 1966 Paris Motor Show to replace the 275 GTS in the Ferrari range. The design was by Pininfarina and the bodywork was assembled at their Turin facility before being shipped to the Ferrari factory in Maranello, fully finished, to attach the mechanical components.
Apart from its folding roof, the 330 GTS was identical to the 330 GTC and, like that model, had a rather unusual feature for a Ferrari: a “330” badge on the boot lid. Prior to this car only a few had ever carried such identification there, and those that did were usually “special” series.
The nose is characterised by a small oval grille and headlamps slightly recessed into the front of the wings, which had a triple engine vent on the sides, bordered by a thin chrome trim on three sides. All this matched a rear section that had first been used on the previous 275 GTS. This created a harmonious, light and elegant line, rounded off by four small bumpers at the corners.
The folding roof of the 330 GTS was attached by a pair of snaps to the upper windscreen pillar when closed, while a vinyl cover, also fastened by snaps, protected it when folded over a small recess behind the rear seats. Production of the 330 GTS continued until late 1968, when it was upgraded with a 4.4-litre engine and some minor cosmetic changes to become the 365 GTS. It was produced in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive, with the odd sequence of chassis numbers used in those days. 100 units were built, with chassis numbering ranging from 08899 to 11713.
